The London Marathon: A Chance for NDRC Members to Take Part

The London Marathon is one of the world’s most iconic running events, drawing elite athletes, dedicated club runners, and enthusiastic first-timers to the streets of the capital each year. For many, it represents the ultimate running challenge — 26.2 miles of effort, atmosphere, and achievement.

NDRC’s London Marathon Ballot

As a Scottish Athletics affiliated club, Newburgh Dunes Running Club (NDRC) receives one or more places (depending on SA membership numbers) in the annual London Marathon. These places are highly sought after, and to allocate them fairly, the club operates its own ballot system.

Who Can Enter?

Club members are eligible to enter the ballot subject to the following conditions:

  • You must have been a member for the entire previous club year (November to October) and the current year at the time of drawing.

  • You must be a current Scottish Athletics member (with a valid SA number). For more information, visit Scottish Athletics Membership.

  • The ballot winner is responsible for all travel and accommodation costs associated with the event, as the club does not provide financial assistance.

  • The ballot winner is required to wear club kit when running the London Marathon.

How to Enter

Details of how to enter the ballot will be announced through the usual club communication channels. Members are encouraged to keep an eye out for updates and announcements.

Why It Matters

For many runners, securing a place in the London Marathon is a dream come true. The ballot system gives NDRC members a fair chance to take part in this world-famous race, proudly representing the club on one of the biggest stages in distance running.

Whether you’re chasing a personal best, running for charity, or simply aiming to soak up the incredible atmosphere, the London Marathon is an unforgettable experience — and through NDRC’s ballot, it could be your turn next.
