A club that trains together

Welcome to Newburgh Dunes Running Club …

Newburgh Dunes Running Club (NDRC) is a social running club based in Newburgh, Aberdeenshire, Scotland on the North Sea coast.  The club was formed in 2015 to provide a focal point for local runners wishing to run with a friendly group of like-minded individuals.  The club is open to runners of all levels and our social running events are tailored to suit the preferences of the group.  We participate in a range of running activities, including trail runs, road runs/races of various lengths and run training.

Please feel free to browse our website to learn more about the club and the various running activities we get involved in.

Training

The club organises a number of training events throughout the year for members, details below.

We welcome anyone over 11 years of age to our club training sessions, details of which are below and in our monthly newsletter, but advise that anyone under 16 years of age must be accompanied at the training session by a parent or guardian.

For more information about our training sessions, email: training@newburghdunesrunningclub.co.uk

Tuesday and Thursday evening Sessions (Club Training) – 1830 hours

The sessions meet in Gordon Park, near the tennis courts, in the summer and at the Ellon Academy campus in winter.  Change of seasons/venues are notified on Facebook and in our monthly Newsletter. Both sessions are one hour in duration (approximately) and we run through a cycle of different training programmes over the weeks.  Sessions are open to runners of all abilities, and everyone is made welcome.

Depending on coach availability and attendance, we aim to split sessions into the following groups:

Tuesdays – usually intervals, Main Group and Confidence & Recovery Group

Thursdays – usually a social run.  Approximately 6-8km, 10km and 13km distances

Additional Sessions – Thursday lunchtime

We also currently have additional training sessions as follows:

Thursday lunchtimes at 1200 hours, a 60 minute session meeting at the Car Park on the south side of the Waterside bridge (closest side to Newburgh) as you leave Newburgh towards Cruden Bay.

The group are happy to welcome anyone along even if they need to leave earlier due to work or personal commitments.  This group is growing by the week and has a wide variety of abilities, all willing to support one another.

Club Runs

Throughout the year many members arrange social runs and these are encouraged wherever possible to include others.
